Customs: Visitors are generally required to make a verbal identification of their baggage and declare foreign currency in excess of $10,000.
Climate: At the time of the conference, the weather is pleasant but mildly cool also.
Official Language: English is the official language for the Conference and commonly used in all business transactions.
Electricity: In India electricity is provided at 220 V, 50 Hz. Sockets take round pins (2 or 3). Adapters are generally available at all hotels.
Time: India has only one time zone which covers the entire country. Indian Standard Time (IST) is 5 hours and 30 minutes ahead of GMT.
Currency: The Indian Rupee is the national currency (INR). International Credit Cards are widely accepted for payment in most hotels, restaurants and shops, particularly American Express, Diners Club, MasterCard and Visa; MasterCard and Visa are the most widely accepted. Credit / Debit Cards: Almost all credit cards like VISA, Master card, Amex etc. are widely accepted by establishments including hotels, restaurants, shops etc.
Banking and exchange facilities: Currency exchange facilities are available at banks and at hotels. 24-hour ATMs are located in shopping centers and many neighbourhood markets.
Vaccination: This depends on what locations you will be visiting. Please consult your physician and follow their recommendations.
Travel Insurance: We highly recommend purchasing travel insurance before travelling to India.
Tipping: Tipping (where it's warranted) is common practice in India. It's fine to tip in a popular foreign currency or local currency. Naturally, it's never compulsory and should only be done if you're happy with the service.
